Profenofos 50% EC is a broad - spectrum organophosphate insecticide and acaricide used to control a wide variety of pests, including bollworms, aphids, thrips, whiteflies, leafhoppers, mites, and caterpillars on various crops such as cotton, rice, vegetables, fruits, and plantation crops. It works through contact and stomach action, quickly paralyzing and killing pests, and is applied as a foliar spray, drench, or seed treatment.

Pests Controlled Profenofos 50% EC is effective against: Sucking pests : Aphids, jassids, whiteflies, leafhoppers, and mealybugs.

Chewing pests : Bollworms, caterpillars, stem borers, and leaf folders.

Mites : Including red spider mites and various other mites.

Crops Protected : This insecticide is used on a wide range of crops, including : Field Crops: Cotton, rice, maize, sugarcane, and soybean. Vegetables: Tomatoes, brinjal, chilli, okra, and cabbage.

Fruits: Grapes, citrus, and mango. Other : Tea, coffee, and pulses.

Mode of Action : Contact and Stomach Action : Profenofos is non-systemic and works by inhibiting the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, essential for nerve impulse transmission in pests.

Quick knockdown : This mode of action leads to paralysis and death of the pest after exposure.

Ovicide and Adulticide : It has properties that can kill both insect eggs (ovicide) and adult insects (adulticide).

Application Methods : Foliar Sprays : The most common method, applied to the leaves of the plant.

Drenching : Used for some crops to apply the product to the root zone.

Seed Treatments : Applied directly to seeds before planting for early-season protection.
