Lab Agent - Fipronil 0.3% GR is a granular insecticide used to control soil and early-stage pests in crops like rice, sugarcane, and wheat.
Key uses : Pest control : It is effective against a range of soil-dwelling and early-stage pests. Rice: Stem borer, leaf folder, brown plant hopper, green leafhopper, and gall midge.
Sugarcane : Stem borer, root borer, and termite.
Wheat : Termites.
Plant growth enhancement : Fipronil 0.3% GR can lead to enhanced root growth and an increase in productive tillers, which can result in higher yields.
Soil application : The granular formulation is designed for soil application, releasing the insecticide slowly into the root zone for long-lasting control.
How it works : Mechanism of action: Fipronil is highly toxic to insects and works by contact or ingestion.
It blocks GABA - gated chloride channels in the central nervous system of insects, leading to excess neuronal stimulation and death.
It can also be absorbed systemically by the plant and has a stomach poison action.
Application : It can be applied by broadcasting the granules by hand or using a mechanical dispenser.
For rice, application can be done 15-25 days after transplanting, ensuring there is standing water in the field.
Sufficient soil moisture is needed for application in sugarcane and wheat.
It is recommended to always refer to the product label for specific application rates, which can vary depending on the crop and pest pressure.
