FIPLAB is a broad - spectrum insecticide used to control various insect pests in crops like rice, sugarcane, vegetables (chili, tomato, brinjal, cabbage), and cotton, as well as for public health applications against pests like termites, cockroaches, and fleas. It works by disrupting the insect's nervous system and is applied as a foliar spray or drench to manage chewing and sucking pests such as stem borers, aphids, whiteflies, leafhoppers, and termites.
Key Uses of Fipronil 5% SC Agricultural Pest Control : Crops : Used on rice, sugarcane, chili, cotton, vegetables (like cabbage, tomato, brinjal), and other cereal crops.
Pests : Effective against stem borers, root borers, leaf folders, white-backed plant hopper (WBPH), brown plant hopper (BPH), fruit borers, thrips, and aphids.
Application Methods : Foliar Spray : Applied as a spray to the leaves of the plant to protect from foliar pests.
Drenching : Can be used for soil treatment against root pests.
How It Works : Mode of Action : Fipronil is a phenylpyrazole insecticide that interferes with the central nervous system of insects by blocking GABA - regulated chloride channels. Mechanism : This blockage leads to hyperexcitation of the insect's nerves and muscles, resulting in death.
Spectrum : It acts as a contact and stomach poison, meaning it can kill pests by direct contact or when they ingest it.
Important Considerations : Crop - Specific Timing : The timing of application varies by crop, with specific recommendations for when to apply the first spray and subsequent sprays.
Safety : Fipronil is toxic to aquatic animals and honeybees, so avoid its use near these environments.
Protective Gear : Always wear full protective clothing while mixing and spraying.
Environmental Safety : Keep away from foodstuffs, food containers, and animal feed during use.
